Cold Poem Fresh Frozen
Jan 9 2008, 9:37 PM EST | Post edited: Jan 9 2008, 9:37 PM EST
Coldness sits in legs feet
and brain
Two thirty a.m.
East Central Scotland
January

Creative faculties frozen
Mind numb
Quality of poetry
basic to subzero
A room with no heating

That cold settles in
throughout the hours
even your eyes
get too cold to work
My hat wraps the brain

Now I am repeating words
I said brain again
forgetting I had been there
It is too cold to shower
Bits of me itch
Others are numb

It's been a long time
since i wrote a poem
it's good to create
sometimes you force it
for its own sake
fuck the quality

sex life

Poor fuckless me,
Ha, I won't bitch
I don't much care
I had a sex life
And sometimes it
was exquisite
sometimes romantic
sometimes rough
sometimes risky
sometimes daring

Fuckless old me
It got tricky
and complex
It's only sex
Only drive
inner desire
hard wired
nature
no big deal
no beef

Eroticism holds sway
The same heart
shoots blood
round the viscerals
for whatever its for
no big deal
No women in my size
Not in chicken town
which this evidently
bloody is

Winter settles in
to the extremities
and the fingers
hit the keys
for the hell of it
I smell
I'm cold
I'm an island
sand in the cracks
it's kelp in the arse

I'm not angry
at any particular thing
except crapness
ignorance
towny fuckwits
dumbfuck attitudes
provincial clowns
drunk loudmouths
staggering
swearing in circles

Fuckless in Gaza
Shagless in Manilla
Actually cancel that
It's said for effect
Bangless in Fife
Hell
there
are
more pressing things
to be working at
Fah...
Fah
Fiddle Fah

2. The Pest

The Pest

throw aside the bed
and rise
Could use some heating though

Wander round some
check out not much
not much to check
in Bitchtown
Short cold days
Long nights
not so warm
not complaining
telling

Place needs tidying
my bones are cold as lead
shower would be advised,
Not in this climate fella
I'm wrapping up
staying put
if my blood would boil
that would be fine

Things must be done
they don't do themselves
lights need to burn
guts need filled
It won't be long
before the job gestapo
are on my case

Keep sending the days
I like each moment
I won't complain
spring will come
It comes to us all

I read your poems
"Cold Poem Fresh Frozen"
left me wanting
to wrap myself round you
to keep you warm
bring you back to life...
desire
not sympathy

"sex life once"
I think you miss intimacy
don't we all
but you are right
you have more pressing needs!

"The Pest"
optimism
despite everything!
I liked them
very honest
very real

Look at him that Fineman
making beautiful maths
for the space between my ears
as i try now to do a poem
that artfully tells
how this mind and Art
before giants
look puny bare
and Lord almighty
why make a song and dance
Let's make it easy
Major physicists
are unco smart
and this poesy
a brassy hook for vanity
