Why I make art-
- To attempt, through creativity, to counterbalance the effects of low level popular culture, which, in my opinion, serve to desensitise and degrade us. I believe Art is an important key to deeper fulfilment and that we should be surrounded by more quality and beauty and less of what Johnathon Meades refers to as 'Drivelling pop noise and burger stench'. I draw on mass culture as well as modernist and classical tradition to create a visual music and poetry for the current age. I aim to dilute or recontextualise influences that stifle our imagination and intellect - the banal, mediocre and crass, in order to discover pathways to the sublime.
- To encourage love of culture because I believe this helps foster emotional maturity and depth
