Does Art have to 'mean something' and what is it's function?

Why I make art-

  • To use creativity to serve life in my own way-
  • To challenge that which kills imagination- the banal- the mediocre- and stand up to the mean spiritedness that serves to insult, oppress and bully those who stand out as 'different', individualistic or gifted
  • To broaden appreciation of the arts, because I believe it's close to the heart and soul of humanity
  • To encourage love of culture because I believe it's part of a mature personality
  • To promote awareness of how cultural influences contribute to what we are
  • Because being part of the tradition makes me feel good
  • Because our diet of popular culture is deadly
  • To do what I was born to do
